This blog is dedicated to all things sewing. In it I hope to show details on my makes, review sewing patterns and share any tips & tricks I have learnt along the way that might be helpful to another sewer.
I started sewing 10 years ago & instantly became hooked. I’d hoped to simply make a few summer dresses but sewing soon become much, much more to me than that. It gave me a welcome distraction from life’s ups and downs – something else to focus on and to provide a creative outlet, with a very satisfying outcome! I’ve sewed myself through breakups, a tough job on the frontline, infertility treatment and, oh, a pandemic! I’ve welcomed lots of babies into the world with a special handmade gift & made finishing touches for my beautiful wedding day.
Now I'm a Mum and time is limited, I sew mainly for myself but I do enjoy making fun costumes & outfits for my little girl.
Through sewing I have also become much more aware of the problematic nature of the fashion industry. I am very slowly creating a wardrobe of clothes that work with each other – that are loved, make me feel happy and are worn to their fullest. I hope to own less, but have more to wear.
I am a self-taught sewer, learning as much from my mistakes as I have from all the kind & inspirational members of the sewing community. I sew mainly from independent pattern designers as I believe they give such top-notch service, often offering tutorials, sewalongs & hacks. I buy my fabric from small, independent businesses.
